My name is Whitney Griffin. I am the youngest of 5 children born to Pat and Tommy Clark. I have lived in Wheeler County for the majority of my life. In 2005, I graduated from Wheeler County High School. I moved off to college for a few years and shortly after marrying the love of my life, we moved back into Wheeler County. I married Doug Griffin (also a Wheeler County High School graduate) in 2011 and we have 4 wonderful children (Kennedi, Kamille, KC, and Knoxx) that beginning in August, all 4 will be students in the Wheeler County School System. As I stated, I am the baby of 5. My siblings include; Alicia (Tim) Hartley, Courtney (Michael) Palma, Blake (Sam) Clark, and Clarissa (Jamey) Jenkins.
Shortly after returning to Wheeler County with my husband, I began working for Mitch Herrington at Alamo Discount Pharmacy. At this time, I really regained my love for the County and for it's people. I spent much of my time employed there working on floral arrangements and gained a love of designing and creating beautiful arrangements. When the pharmacy closed down, I saw a need for a florist in our community. At this time, with the love and support from my family, I officially opened Country Charm Flowers and Gifts in downtown Alamo. This business I ran for almost 8 years. Due to unforeseen medical reasons, unfortunately I had to close the doors to Country Charm Flowers and Gifts. But what I learned in those 8 years as well as the smiles that my store put on the faces of this community can not be measured.
I am the most qualified for the position of Wheeler County Tax Commissioner for multiple reasons. Local roots. I have lived in this county since birth with the exception of a few years after high school. The majority of my family still lives in this county. Wheeler County has ALWAYS been home to me. STRONG VALUES. I grew up attending Friendship Baptist Church with my parents and siblings. Attending church camp every summer and leaning to lean on God. Once married, my husband and I attended Stuckey Baptist Church for many years. And now my husband, myself, and our 4 children are very active members at Glenwood First Baptist Church. Our oldest daughter was baptized there last year. Not only have I always attended church but my parents instilled in us the difference between right and wrong, how to treat everyone fairly, and how to be hard working. REAL RESULTS. I have owned my own business. I have worked with customers. I have always had employment in which I was able to interact with the public in some fashion. If it weren't for medical reasons 3 years ago, I'm sure Country Charm would still be open.
